Leaders of aggrieved faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, otherwise known as New APGA (N-APGA), have taken a swipe at Chief Victor Oye-led National Working Committee (NWC), national leader of the party and Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willy Obiano, accusing them of criminally extorting huge sums of money from aspirants, including over 20,000 members who bought the party’s delegates’ forms. Besides, they accused APGA’s NWC members of reducing the party to a profiteering syndicate, threatening to initiate criminal prosecution against them for allegedly exploited party members.

N-APGA leaders spoke shortly after a meeting at the Emekuku country-home of Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho on Sunday and reinforced their earlier position that no primary election took place in Imo state as those parading as candidates of the party were hand-picked by some politicians from Anambra State. Convener of the meeting and BoT member, Ihenacho, who queried repeatedly on how someone emerged as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the absence of a primary election, maintained that APGA and its leaders in Imo did not recognize Sen. Ifeanyi Araraume as the party’s governorship candidate.
