Okorocha blows hot, attacks Catholic Archbishop, ex-governor for supporting Uche Nwosu's rival

- Okorocha expressed anger that both men are now working together in support of Hope Uzodinma


Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has lashed out at the Catholic archbishop of the Owerri Diocese, Most Reverend Anthony Obinna; an ex governor of the state, Achike Udenwa; and a former chairman of the state Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, declaring that the individuals have a pathological hatred for President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (PC).


In a press statement issued via his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, on Monday, October 29, Okorocha stated that the archbishop had never hidden his sympathy for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Punch reports.


Legit.ng gathers that the governor recalled that the cleric threw his weight behind the APGA governorship candidate, Captain Emma Iheanacho, and the then presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, in 2015.


He said: “In 2015, Governor Rochas Okorocha took President Muhammadu Buhari to Archbishop Obinna when he came on a campaign. They met privately for hours; but two days after, his newspaper (The Leader) came up with the caption: 'The Alhaji in Government House' and told the false story of how Okorocha was taking Igbo youths to the North to be Islamised.


“The medium, up till today, has never seen any reason to give the APC and President Buhari a chance.”


He further dismissed the Udenwa administration; describing it as a setback for the state.


Okorocha also justified the dethronement of Ilomuanya as both a traditional ruler and chairman state council of traditional rulers.


He added: “So they are working together now in support of Hope Uzodinma, whose claim of being a member of the APC is not up to six months. And the PDP chieftains like Udenwa are also supporting the senator.


“These people cannot love APC or President Buhari.”


Okorocha said no other gubernatorial candidate in the state has the eligibility to win the Imo state governorship seat.


According to the governor, the tussle between Nwosu, and Senator Hope Uzodinma is already a done battle.
