Exercising is good for your health. However, age limits the type of exercise you can engage in. As you get older, there are exercises that will harm you as opposed to making you fit and look younger. The following exercises have been listed by fitnessmyself.com as dangerous to all who are above 40.

1. Standing toe touch

This is a great exercise that stretches your legs and back. However, too much pressure on your back is not healthy if you are above 40 years. Neck injuries are also associated with this kind of exercise. You are advised to substitute it with yoga.

2. Hovering leg lift

As explained above, this also puts unnecessarily excess pressure on your lower back. It is wise to stop stressing your aging back. A great substitute for the hovering leg lift is the bent knee hollow hold.

3. Leg extension

Lifting weights with your legs is a great idea for the under forties. However, the joint pain that result can be discouraging especially if you are above forty. Chair squads are the option you should consider.

4. Behind the neck press

The exercises is known to press a vital neck artery. Please avoid it if you do not want to fracture your neck. Leave it to professional body builders.
