On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, delegates of Imo PDP will converged at a yet to be disclosed venue to cast votes and elect one of the aspirants for the gubernatorial ticket of the party. The eventual winner will be the Imo PDP candidate in the February 2019 general elections.

As at this moment, only five aspirants have expressed interest and intention to vie for the Imo PDP ticket. The five of them have obtained the requisite nomination forms.

They include:

1. Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC

2. Prof. Jude Njoku, Ph.D

3. Senator Athan Achonu

4. Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN

5. Senator Samuel Anyanwu

One of the above-listed aspirants would emerge the Imo PDP flag bearer in the September 26, 2018 Imo PDP Primary Election.

Available verifiable and assessable evidence indicate Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is roundly favoured to emerge the flag bearer. There are indeed so many winds blowing and everything is turning around for his favour.

He has a lot that places him up and above all the other aspirants. He is 53 years. He is soundly educated with a degree and at least five other academic certificates which he earned from some of the world’s best citadels of higher learning viz: UNILAG, Harvard (U.S), Stanford (U.S) Oxford (UK), London School of Economics (UK) and British Columbia (Canada).

He worked briefly in the Senate of Nigeria as a civil servant 1992-1995. Before end of 1995 he was the Director of Publicity of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM). When PDM transformed into PDP in 1998, Ihedioha was a foundation member.

Between 1999 and 2003, he served as Special Assistant to Senate Presidents, and Special Assistant to a Special Adviser to the President. He also became Special Assistant to the Vice President of Nigeria. And in this phase of his political career, he excelled from grace to grace, and from glory to glory.

In 2003-2007, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha contested for and won the election into the Federal House of Representatives and represented the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency. He was Chairman, House Committee on Marine Transport. He had a total of nine bills signed into law. He achieved so much in his first term in the House that cannot all be catalogued in this short essay.

In 2007-2011, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha contested and won a second term election into the House. He was elected as Chief Whip of the House. By virtue of this he became a principal officer of the House.

In 2011-2015, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha again contested and won the third term election. He was unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of the House. By virtue of this, he became a presiding officer of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

And for some time before the end of the 7th Assembly in 2015, he was drafted by the entire members of the House to serve as the Speaker of the House.

He achieved a lot as a lawmaker. He endured that his numerous projects reached all the 27 LGAS of the State; the great roads he built in his immediate constituency and parts of Imo State; the projects he attracted to NTA, Owerri and Radio Nigeria; appointments, employment and empowerment; the scholarships and Skills acquisition progammes; the healthcare outreach; the jetties in Ngor Okpala and Oguta; and indeed numerous projects that are now being compiled into a book that when completed will be entitled “Ihedioha Book of Projects”. All of his huge projects that ran into multiple billions of naira stand as eternal legacies to speak for the great achievements of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.

In 2015 he contested for but lost the govervnorship election.

However, he gave a very good account of himself, polling 47% of total votes cast. The winner polled 51%.

Yet, it has been proved that he did not lose to a superior opponent but to an inferior conspirators within Imo PDP at the time.

The traitors were exposed by Gov. Rochas Okorocha, their partner in electoral crime , shortly after the 2015 election.

Since 2018, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has declared strong interest to contest the 2019 election.

He has since the turn of this year embarked on one of the most robust and successful tours of the entire 305 wards and 27 LGAS of Imo State.

Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is undoubtedly the most prepared candidate among all the other aspirants that will likely vie against him in the September 26, 2018 primary election.

We feel so much assured  that Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha will win the party ticket and go on to win the general election.

We feel Imo PDP leaders, members and delegates will reclaim Douglas House in 2019 with Ihedioha as the driver.

Join him! Support him! Elect him!

God bless you!
