Okorocha used $3m of Imo money to fund Liberian election - Onyeagocha

A frontline governorship aspirant for All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and human rights activist in Imo State, Barrister Uche Onyeagocha, has again accused the state Governor, Rochas Okorocha of giving $3 million to the Liberian President, George Weah, as a campaign gift during Weah’s presidential election.
Onyeagocha made the allegation, among other things, at a sensitization rally/empowerment of party officials held at Obinze, in Owerri West Local Government Area, promising to imprison Okorocha, if elected governor of the state in 2019, with a strong belief that Okorocha had sewn his prison uniform going by the numerous atrocities committed as a governor over a period of seven years.
The federal lawmaker frowned at a situation where the governor would allegedly spend such a whooping sum of money as a gift to Weah to facilitate his election, while the state pensioners and civil servants were owed for several months.
He used the avenue to apologize to Imolites for helping to return Okorocha as governor in 2015, adding that it was very unfortunate that Imo people got into the criminal vehicle of the governor which had brought about a complete impoverishment of the masses.
The first APGA representative at the House of Representatives in 2003, submitted that the continuous confiscation of people’s land in Owerri by the incumbent governor must be fought, if given the power, stressing that such “could be why he decided to use his son-in-law, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, as his successor in 2019 against the wishes of the people, so that all the committed atrocities will be covered.” Similarly, Onyeagocha has accused the governor of raking in N2.5billion from the sale of councillorship and chairmanship forms in preparation for the LG elections in the state, pointing out that the governor was only using such as a ploy to deceive Imolites in view of the number of times he had previously changed election dates.
He frowned at a situation in which the governor had included autonomous communities as areas where LG elections would be conducted which, according to him, were at variance with the INEC approved wards.
