Bishops and Church leaders in Imo state on the platform of the Concerned Church Leaders Forum has called on the police high command to immediately redeploy the Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Dasuki Galadinchi over a series of alleged abuses going on in sacred places of worship.
The clerics also noted that Galadinchi should be made to apologise for arresting a preacher from the pulpit for allegedly prophesying against Governor Rochas Okorocha.

The Forum’s spokesperson, Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu who also doubles as the National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) said “Church leaders in Imo state frown against such act of disrespect against our sacred place of worship. Preachers enjoy a measure of immunity in their pulpit and should not be subjected to such affront.

“As a matter of fact, I cannot imagine Galadinchi invading a mosque to arrest an Imam for prophesying against anybody. Let him not give us the impression that he was sent to Imo on a mission and not just to do police work. He should respect our people, our faith and our sacred places of worship.”

Ilechukwu went on: “We however appreciate that the House of Assembly has denied the Ranching Bill but judging by their previous antecedents, we are still worried that it may resurface again like they did in the case of the Abortion law.

“We are even more concerned by the fact that when the South-East Governors met last week and rejected ranching in the region, Governor Okorocha was absent at the meeting. Okorocha’s absence at that meeting is suspect and that is why we are voicing our condemnation of that bill.”
