The former governor of Imo State Dr Ikedi Ohakim is reported to be set to declare for the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA very soon as he seeks to complete his second tenure in office and Okigwe's remaining four years to balance the charter of equity.
A very close source to the former governor authoritatively said that the former governor will be formally decamping from the People's Democratic Party PDP for APGA in a matter of weeks.
The source, a chieftain of the party says that the party is determined to correct the mistake of 2011 and believes that Ohakim is that right man for the job.
"In 2011, working on false information and deceived by a habitual liar, we were used to put Imo State in the condition we find ourselves today, " he said. "We are determined to correct that mistake and I believe returning Dr Ikedi Ohakim to Douglas House is the only way to atone for our mistakes.
"We all now know that Ohakim never did the things he was falsely accused of such as beating a priest. Rev Father Ejike who was erroneously used to campaign against him in 2011 has since come to denounce the lie. Even the Archbishop is now a very good friend of Ohakim and even awarded him as the best governor in the area of education recently.
"Besides under Ohakim, Imo was working. We had better quality roads. Salaries and pensions were paid. The economy was booming. People weren't forced back to the villages like Rochas is doing today.
"I am from Mbaise and I will advice my fellow Owerri zone brethren desirous of equity to come to it with clean hands. Owerri landed us in Okorocha's hands and so we disrupted equity. Our best bet is to give Ohakim four years and sail easily into Douglas House else with the way some Orlu people are showing their heads, Owerri may still lose it again as we lost it in 2015 when Ihedioha refused to allow Ohakim finish his tenure. I even heard Hope Uzodinma is also warming up for governorship not senate as he is secretly and quietly building his structure across the state.
"APGA have long since repented of the mistake of Rochas Okorocha who has become a curse to Ndi Imo and in 2019 we are correcting that mistake by returning Ohakim to Douglas House.
